Khong Guan Smoked Candy

Plums grow abundantly in Taiwan and come in more than 70 varieties. They’re available seasonally from May to August, but preserving the fruit allows it to be enjoyed year-round. While you may be familiar with jams and jellies, smoked plums are a common type of preserved fruit found in Taiwan, where they were historically smoked in special huts. These smoked-plum- flavored hard candies are sweet, sour, and slightly smoky, reflecting a beloved flavor of traditional Taiwanese cuisine. Some say the flavor almost tastes barbecue-y!
