Ingredients
- One cantaloupe
- Prosciutto (Italian dry-cured ham)
- Balsamic glaze or quality honey for drizzling
- Optional fresh herb garnish, I used basil
Preparation
- Start by seeding the melon, then slice it into wedges and peel them. Wrap each wedge with a thin slice of prosciutto and lay them out on a platter. I like to drizzle honey and balsamic glaze on some of the cantaloupe wedges. Throw on a handful of fresh basil, and if you’ve got extra honey, serve it in a small bowl so everyone can add more if they want.
- I usually serve melon and prosciutto as a starter with an Italian-style cocktail, like a Negroni or Limoncello Spritz. You can also serve it as a composed salad on a big platter with basil leaves and more honey on the side for people to add as they like.
- You can prep this a little ahead of time and keep it chilled for an hour or two, but be sure to take it out of the fridge 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
